Stephanie Laporte

Stephanie Laporte (°1972, Belgium) graduated in 1996 as an interior designer from ESA St-Luc in Tournai. After three years of working for the renowned agency of Claire Bataille and Paul Ibens she started her own studio in 1999.

Ever since Stephanie Laporte has build a diverse portfolio of both residential and commercial projects. She realizes new-build properties as well as remodelling, in Belgium and abroad. Her studio is a one-stop-shop for architecture, interior design and furnishing.

Her style could be described as ‘New Essentialism’. In our increasingly complex world Stephanie Laporte creates serene, warm and refined environments with no unnecessary frills or decoration. Her timeless interiors are places to withdraw with family and friends and be yourself. She accomplishes this calmness by using a limited colour scheme and not too many different materials.

Further, she pays much attention to proportions, often inspired on the Golden Ration. She prefers to use natural and locally sourced materials, as she’s very aware of the genius loci. She works closely together with the best craftsmen. Thanks to her twenty-five years of experience and her keen eye for detail Stephanie Laporte brings every project to a good conclusion.

Stephanie Laporte strips living back to its essence. She aims for simplicity, but prevents dullness by selecting lesser-known vintage furniture, pieces by emerging designers and fine art. Art has been present in her life since she was a teenager. Currently she’s an avid collector and she visits exhibitions, fairs and biennales on a regular basis. All this influences her design language. She’s inspired by the use of colour and the ideas of modernists such as Piet Mondriaan and Jozef Albers. And also by the minimalism of Sol LeWitt, Donald Judd and Carl André. It’s no wonder Stephanie Laporte also includes art advice in her portfolio.
